Democracy … Democracy … Democracy … this is what we have been hearing for decades. When there will be democracy, it will empower the general public, the economy will flourish under its shade, investors’ trust will be restored, labor and women rights will prevail, public representatives will be answerable to their constituencies and consequently the crescent of the country will linger on the horizon.
We are curious to find any one of these outcomes in so called modern system called Democracy at least in our country, Pakistan. What we see is that the power of the people of Pakistan has almost disappeared, the economy has continuously been rattled in nearly all areas, the rights of labor and women are thwarted, public representatives presumed to be the most imperative factor of the system are trashing the public and yes of course what an image of the country been portrayed to the world, the appetizing topic for our television anchors and intellectuals.
Does expending enormously on sketching alike structure authenticate the development and growth of the under developed country like us? Does the transfer of powers to some of their elected representatives certify the resolution to the problems of the people? Does balloting evolve a group to fight for the rights, welfare and happiness of millions of people? Please get rid of this useless discussion of governmental systems and models in a democratic environment.
The countries leading the world today have emphasized more on the strengths not systems. The approach, will and autonomy of the people has first been restored reinstated by the leaders of Japan, Germany, France and other western countries after horrible disasters of world wars.
Then all they explored and capitalized their domestic resources ensuring least dependence on other countries and propping up self-reliance. Eventually the blend of trained intelligence, invariable tireless struggles and utilization of available resources transformed them into social, economic and military powers.
Though the wills, hard work and commitment channelized towards right direction of these nations could be role model but not necessarily the track to development as the circumstances vary from country to country. For an example, if oil enriched country would prioritize agriculture or livestock, it will terribly end up in a disaster and vice versa.
Examples are supposed to motivate and energize people to achieve predetermined goals and it is not certainly obligatory to chasing the same routes as the succeeded nations have preferred. Everyone shares the patterns of developed countries not the hidden exertions, sweats and struggles which laid the foundation of their developed economies.
They are earnest so you can be too, they are devoted so you can be too, they intend to insert their role in the world, why can’t you? Don’t try to flee the hurdles in one instance and fracture yourself, take a start so crawl, stand, walk and then run.
Thus be honest and determined, evade badies, earn and pay legally, chuck the deceits and at least revolutionize an individual. The count will soon Insha Allah be two, three…then hundreds, latter thousands and eventually millions. System is irrelevant for these and what is relevant is a true intent and self-responsibility.
When we sense ashamed of begging our neighbors, relative or friends, why can’t when it comes to strangers like other countries. Resources must be capitalized to multiply not to consume on luxuries or non-necessities; wills must be inducted to personal and collective growth not to bag undue gains; work must be executed to yield and reap not to chop the land you live in.
How long we would plead to survive, to feed our children and to sustain our status being an import based economy. Little to eat with dignity is far better than beg and eat. Send-off luxuries, curse the bribe, fire the bloody status, limit the undue spending and share with the deserving fellows to propel.
Then a system will mechanically crafted which may be named whatever but that’s the sure Pakistan would be added to the illustrations people all the world over talk about.
